This is a juried exhibition open to artists of all backgrounds for works of art created prior to the Buddha Art Festival. Artists must submit a portfolio of three works of art in any medium to be considered by the jury. A link to upload images will be provided in the next registration email. If selected, artists can exhibit up to two works of art for the Festival Art Show.
Artists will be notified of their acceptance within five days of the submission date. The Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center is free and open to everyone. Special thanks to our generous advocates. A self-taught painter, Ashley's art education was more scientific in nature, based on field sketches and laboratory illustrations.
The art center has partnered with local artists and restaurants to raise funds for the Hays County Food Bank by organizing an event called Empty Bowl titled “Buy a Bowl, Feed 100 People.” Paul VerBurg is a full-time artist and painter, trained in drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA) and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena (California). This is a unique opportunity for emerging and established artists to showcase their work in an award-winning gallery dedicated to promoting contemporary art. Craig earned a degree in Art Education and a master's degree in Ceramics from the prestigious Cranbrook Art Academy. Her mixed-media paintings commissioned by her can be found permanently at the Impression 5 Science Center, in the Susan and Jack Davis nature gallery and pavilion at the Fenner Nature Center, and in the beautiful new headquarters of The Davies Project.
Paul's earlier and more traditional work has been seen in several national exhibitions, such as the Eiteljorg Museum, the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, the Wichita Art Museum, the Northern Arizona Museum, and the Desert Caballeros Museum of Western Art), as well as in galleries from coast to coast. She teaches ceramics at the Kalamazoo Art Institute, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and is a regular contributor to Ceramics Monthly. There I immersed myself in all aspects of goldsmithery, laying the foundation for continuing my studies with private tutors and in numerous independent workshops, art centers and master classes. His murals feature prominently in the Vine Neighborhood Association, in Kalamazoo, and in Elm Park, in Lansing, Michigan, which are part of the ArtPath public art program at the Lansing Art Gallery's & Education Center.
We have exhibited at craft and art fairs in Michigan and enjoyed having established a brand that people will now follow. His work has been included in several solo exhibitions, in small groups and with national juries, such as the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center in Clarksville (Tennessee), the Eastend Studio and Gallery in Marshall (Michigan), the Sarratt Gallery of Vanderbilt University in Nashville (Tennessee) and the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center at Hastings College, to name a few. He has a master's degree in Studio Art from Michigan State University and a degree in Studio Art from Indiana Wesleyan University. He then continued his studies at the University of Western Michigan, where he earned a degree in Fine Arts and Environmental Studies.
His work is represented in national and regional galleries, such as the Charlie Cummings Gallery in Gainesville, Florida, and Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, MI. Marissa Tawney Thaler, from Lansing, has a degree in Fine Arts from the Kendall College of Art and Design, where she studied Art Education and Illustration.
